All about The Unconventional Career Club

Hello, I’m Laura Cloke, a career fulfilment coach and founder of The Unconventional Career Club. For the last 10 years I have been doing my career differently, letting go of what I thought it should look like, and instead following what feels good for me.

I burnt out at work when I was 27 and developed a chronic illness. It was awful, but it was also avoidable. Burning out was a defining moment in my career and it has shaped everything I have done since. Looking back, I wish that someone had taught me about having boundaries, prioritising rest, and all the other things I now know about how to feel good at work.

That is why I have created The Unconventional Career Club. I want there to be a place where you can get the support you need to create a career you love. I want to show you that it is possible for work to feel good, and to give you practical support to make it a reality.

How it works

When you join the club, you are putting yourself to the top of your to do list. By making the time and space to think about what you want from your career, you will be able to make the choices that work for you.

There is no set plan to follow to create a career you love; it is about figuring out what is right for you and putting in the work.

The Unconventional Career Club gives you structure, prompts, tools, and perspectives to use to think about what success at work means for you. I won’t tell you what to do, instead I will encourage you to reflect on what feels right for you and take the actions that will move you towards your goals.

Each month there are 5 ways you can engage with the club:

  • The Inbox Coach newsletter – a gentle nudge on a Monday morning straight to your inbox to help you to think about your career development.
  • Workshops - practical tools and tips from the world of coaching to help you work on your career.
  • Co-working sessions – a dedicated hour each month to prioritise your career and do that task you have been putting off with the support of other members.
  • Ask a coach – pop your question on the community post or book a 15-minute career drop-in session to talk through an area you want to work on in your career.
  • Career advice – access articles on different career development topics to get the support you are looking for each month.

VIP members also get a monthly 45-minute coaching session to work on their career.
